The first time you take the journey to Sawtooth Cauldron, it's going to be a frustrating one. You discover that you cannot take the elevator to the top level of the map, and you'll most likely get stuck in the level, unable to find the exit. Getting lost is probably one of the most frustrating parts of Borderlands 2. To save you all from the headache I went through, because I know I wasn't the only one, I put together a little guide on how to get out of the god-forsaken area and use the broken elevator.

Leaving the map

In order to get out, you need to travel to the north-eastern most area of the map, called Sawtooth Stills. On the western side of this area, you should see a path that begins to lead up the mountain.  Keep following this, and it should take you to the exit. Here's a map I made to show you exactly where it is:

Don't worry, I got lost for quite some time here too.

There's no direct route straight up the mountain, so you have to take the slight detour up and around it, shown by the red arrow on the map. Alternatively, you can take the elevator from the Grotto up to the Buzzard's Nest, and jump down on the eastern side to get out of Sawtooth Cauldron.  But the elevator will only be available to you if you've unlocked it first.

Accessing the elevator

If it's the elevator that you're looking to use, you might be disappointed that you already came all the way here. The elevator is unlocked during the main story mission, 'Toil and Trouble'. Sadly you cannot use the elevator any other way; the Buzzard's Nest and the side mission icon "!" are both out of reach until you get far enough into the main quest.  But luckily if you're far enough into Borderlands 2 to be able to access Sawtooth Cauldron, 'Toil and Trouble' should be the next main story mission you'll be on, if not, it should be the one just after.

In the final part of the optional side mission 'Clan Wars', you're able to choose if you want to side with the Zafords or the Hodunks.  Now how are you supposed to decide which gang to side with when you don't know the rewards? Well, read on:

I'm sure all of you already have a favourite gang by this point in the mission, but you also should know the advantages of siding with either side.


Siding with the Zafords:

***upon completion of the quest, Mick will give you the Chulainn.  This is a powerful Maliwan SMG, which fires slag and shock bullets. The downside to this gun is it slag's you while firing, which means you'll take more damage from non-slag sources.

***Tector & Jimbo become a respawning boss for the area, which can be farmed for the rare legendary gun called the Slagga, which is a Bandit SMG.

Siding with the Hodunks:

***completing the quest with Jimbo will give a shotgun called the Landscaper. It's a shotgun which shoots 4 sticky shells in a square formation, which blows up after a few seconds. Honestly, it's far from anything special, there's other better explosive shotguns out there.

***Mick Zaford will respawn in the area as a boss, who has a small chance of dropping the legendary pistol called Maggie. This is a very strong pistol, which is used in the same way as a shotgun.

So really it's not going to make a huge difference if you side with the Zafords or the Hodunks. It just depends if you have a preference on which gun you'd rather receive, and which clan you would like to still be able to interact with, and which one you'd like to be able to kill for loot. In the end I sided with Zafords simply because they're a lot more badass.

So you've made it to the end game, and you're given the option; kill Jack, or let Lilith do the deed. As tempting as it is to give him a shotgun blast to the face without hesitation, is this the best thing to do?

The answer is: it makes no difference! The end reward will be exactly the same no matter what you choose.  So the choice is yours weather or not you want to take the 'Handsome' from Handsome Jack yourself, or let Lilith get her revenge.

Personally I let Lilith kill him.  Mostly because I always tried to complete the optional parts of missions, but also because if I was held hostage and tortured like she was, I wouldn't want anyone getting in my way to put the man down myself!

Bad Hair Days is the first optional mission on Borderlands 2 which gives you the choice of who to talk to in order to complete your quest, both giving different rewards. Who should I claim my reward from?

You've killed four bulleymongs with a melee attack and picked up their fur. Who should I go to get the best gun?

You have the option to talk to Sir Hammerlock, who will give you a sniper rifle, or Claptrap, who has a shotgun for you.

Which one should I choose? The answer is actually whatever one you could use more.  Unfortunately both of the guns are usually nothing special, and are usually not even elemental. Simply choose whatever one you'd enjoy more.  If you feel like you could use a good long range weapon, go for the sniper. If you already have a sniper or could use a good shotgun, talk to Claptrap. There's no consequences for either choice, so don't worry!
