Borderlands 2 - Stuck in Sawtooth Cauldron? - Leaving the map and using the elevator

Watch my quick video on how to get out of Sawtooth Cauldron, or read on.In order to get out, you need to travel to the north-eastern most area of the map, called Sawtooth Stills. On the western side of this area, you should see a path that begins to lead up the mountain. Keep following this, and it should take you to the exit. Here's a map I made to show you exactly where it is:

There's no direct route straight up the mountain, so you have to take the slight detour up and around it, shown by the red arrow on the map. Alternatively, you can take the elevator from the Grotto up to the Buzzard's Nest, and jump down on the eastern side to get out of Sawtooth Cauldron. But the elevator will only be available to you if you've unlocked it first.

Accessing the elevator
If it's the elevator that you're looking to use, you might be disappointed that you already came all the way here. The elevator is unlocked during the main story mission, 'Toil and Trouble'. Sadly you cannot use the elevator any other way; the Buzzard's Nest and the side mission icon "!" are both out of reach until you get far enough into the main quest. But luckily if you're far enough into Borderlands 2 to be able to access Sawtooth Cauldron, 'Toil and Trouble' should be the next main story mission you'll be on, if not, it should be the one just after.

ReplyDeleteIf there is one thing I HHHAAATTTEEE!!! in a video game, it's getting stuck going around in circles for hours on end until I eventually just give up. What makes it worse is that there is no way out and no way to teleport somewhere else. This level is so huge, it's stupid and the enemies just keep respawning wherever you go so there really isn't any clue on how to get out. When it comes to getting stuck to the point of abandoning a game, the first POS "Alone in the Dark" on PS1 comes to mind... I completely walked away from that one. I have WAY to much time into this BL2 though and I'm too close to the end to just walk away... which just adds to the stress level. THANK YOU. Usually, I try not to look for help online until the frustration level far exceeds the fun level to the point where it's completely ruining the game... that's where this has gone...
ReplyDeleteDear god thank you, so simple but I could not figure it out and with enemies spawning I hardly had the time to properly explore and find the exit!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone still has this issue, just exit to the title screen and reload the game. It spawns you at the fast travel and as long as you're complete the mission it will stay at the turn in part.

I knew I could just reload the game but I had 360+ Anarchy on my Mechromancer and refused to give them up. Thanks for the quick fix.
